About

a little history

Shakeel was born in Lahore, Pakistan and at a very young age, moved to Glasgow, Scotland. He graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a BSc in Computing and had a brief period in accountancy, before moving to Peterborough to start his IT career as a software engineer. With an ever increasing interest in new technologies, the internet and web development, he soon made the switch to web development.

activities and diversions

Shakeel is very much into all things digital and absolutely loves technology, gadgets, games and A/V. Over the years he has invested a considerable amount of time, effort and money in his pursuits. He used to be a huge gamer, but with changes in lifestyle and ever-increasing responsibilities, he has very little time for games these days. Instead, he now gets enjoyment from his 50″ HD plasma, Sky HD, 5.1 surround sound setup, Denon AH-D5000 headphones, PlayStation3 with a growing collection of digital media, blu-ray titles and a handful of games.

In 2007, Shakeel made a leap of faith by switching to Apple computers and purchased a 24″ iMac. He immediately found the Mac computing experience refreshing, hassle-free and addictive. The Mac family has been expanded to include a 15″ MacBook Pro and an iPhone 3G.

As a web developer, Shakeel works on a Windows platform using Visual Studio at work. At home, he uses his Mac and a variety of development and imaging software, to manage this blog. He is currently trying to learn the secrets of PhotoShop along with Illustrator, XCode, Objective-C and iPhone development .. yeah, good luck buddy!

Outside the digital zone, Shakeel enjoys keeping fit and works out regularly. Occasionally he ventures out on his cherished Specialized StumpJumper FSR Expert mountain bike.

photography

Shakeel is a keen amateur photographer and is finding himself becoming increasingly interested in digital photography and the delights of Photoshop. A Nikon D300 keeps him shutter happy and he employs Adobe Lightroom 2.0 to manage and process his photographs, with printing handled by an HP B9180 printer.

All his photos are hosted on Flickr as it provides an easy way to share his photos with the online community. His latest photos, streamed from Flickr can be viewed in the slideshow below. Currently, Shakeel is busy working on another website specifically for the purpose of presenting his finest photography efforts in a more elegant and sophisticated form. Keep an eye out for it, it’s coming real soon.
